Grundfos Recirculating Hot Water System Does the Job!
I have a rambling 1885 Victorian house in New York City, with long domestic hot water branches, requiring long wait times for hot water to arrive, not good!My first plan was to install two dedicated DHW return lines, requiring installing 1/2" pex lines connecting to the kitchen on ground floor, and to the third floor bath. This traditional solution means the DHW is being circulated in a loop, making hot water always available at the tap. Great system, but a lot of work! This Grundfos UP pump was a good solution for me. It meant that I could avoid all the work involved in putting in two dedicated "loop" DHW return lines - because it uses the existing cold water supply line as the "loop" to push hot water and make it available when you open the tap - BOOM!I was skeptical that it would actually work, but after installing the system I can report that it works very well!I find that when you open the tap the water is not "fully" hot, but it is warm enough for washing your hands, and the most important thing, you are not waiting for the cold water to become warm and/or hot. After ten seconds or so, the water is measurably hot, certainly hot enough for washing dishes or doing the things you normally do with your hot water! The installation was a snap, I would recommend that you install gate valves above and below where you mount the pump coming out of your HW heater, that will make it easy in future if you need to change the pump or get it serviced. On the comfort valve part that is mounted under your sink, just use stainless steel hoses *(the pump kit comes with 2) which have rubber cone shaped washers so that you just have to tighten them down to the valve, without using any pipe dope or teflon tape on the threads. We'll see how long these valves last in daily use, I'll report back if there's any issues.Overall a good product and innovative technology designed to save energy and water!

Doubts about recirculating pumps removed
I was very skeptical about recirculating pumps that return water through the cold water line. I am very happy with this system. I weighed the advantages of installing a seperate return line vs. installing this system. A key concern was the response time for a cold water faucet opening to the water reaching its coldest temperature. I was pleasantly surprised that it is consistently less than a few seconds at the faucet furthest away from the hot water heater, which is worst case. The system works so well that even if I was working with new construction I would use this system instead of running a dedicated return line, especially with the price of copper and the fact that there are fewer leakage paths. My user experience is this: I turn on any hot water faucet and water is instantaneously warm and gets to full hot in less than half a minute. I turn on any cold water faucet and the water begins cool and within a few seconds the water is fully cold. I have very long pipe runs and this performance is excellent. The pump is undetectable acoustically. The system is easy to set up. The timer is simple and allows one to set the time the system is operating very easily and in small increments. I can make the system start and stop in 15 minute intervals thoughout the day and it's very intuitive. I was also pleased that the system includes on stainless steel and noncorrosive materials in wetted areas. This is a very well designed system. I'm still getting used to turning on the water on a cold night and it's immediately usable.

Good circulation pump, but old technology.
This product works well and is easy to install based on our plumber. I'm deducting one star due to the manual timer setup and adjuste, which means that every time after a power outage, we have to climb up to adjust the timer.😓Our work around this problem is to add a smart plug between the GFIC outlet and the circulation pump. This way we can set timer on cell phones.

Easy install, great results.
Works as well as advertised and installation is DIY friendly with basic skills. I installed this system for my inlaws who have suffered with minutes of cold water to their kitchen sink and laundry for years. After two months they couldn't be happier with the results and I have no complaints over the directions or the install. I highly recommend this system.

No More Hot Water Waits!
Easy to install (if you're handy) and works like a charm. It's been in for about a week. I've set it up to run continuously in the mornings during shower times and in the evening during clean up and bath times. In the middle of the day I have set it to go on and off every 15 minutes since I am home and working all day and still use the kitchen periodically. The 15 on/15 off setting works great! Our kitchen is at one end of a long ranch house and the water heater is at the other (under all the bedrooms and bathrooms). It used to take 2 and a half minutes (on average) to get hot water to the kitchen. No it's at the very least really warm when it starts (in the middle of the day) and heats up quickly...or actually hot (during those times it's set for a constant setting).I did have to get used to having warm water come out of the cold tap. But it clears out in a matter of seconds. Not an issue at all.I would definitely recommend this to anyone having issues with long waits for hot water. We also had one at our old house. It was a different brand (I can't remember which, I think we bought it at Sam's Club), it worked, but it was pretty weak and kind of noisy. The Grundfos is a quality, solidly built product. The motor is so quiet you can barely hear it hum when it's running. And it definitely has the chops to get the job done...and done well. I can't say enough good about it.

This works 100%
If you have a faucet that takes several minutes to heat up, then deploy this thing! I now get hot water in less than a second. It is amazing. Given the design of our plumbing, it only helped the one faucet. But if all your hot water lines are on the same feed, then this thing will work wonders for all of them!

Conserves water
This pump really works. Our water heater is across the house from bathrooms so this saves lots of water.
