Great quality
It is designed for both amateur radio and general communications use, featuring a strong build that can withstand outdoor conditions. With a 2m/70cm dual-band frequency range, it delivers good signal reception and transmission quality, making it a popular choice for mobile operations. The antenna is easy to install and offers a decent balance between performance and convenience, although it may not offer the same high-end performance as larger antennas. Overall, the Nagoya UT-72 is a reliable and affordable option for radio enthusiasts who need a portable antenna solution.

nice antenna kit
This is a key component of my poor man's mobile. I'm posting this same review for all the other accessories of the build, but not for the radio which I love and reviewed separately. Here's the build:BaoFeng BF-F8HP Nagoya UT-308UV 22-Inch Magnetic Mount VHF/UHF Antenna SMA-Female for AnyTone, BaoFeng, and YaesuBaoFeng BL-5 12V Battery Eliminator for BF-F8HP and UV-5R RadiosBaofeng BF-S112 Two Way Radio SpeakerRegarding each part. Love the radio. The antenna is good and comes nicely packaged with all the needed parts. What is really nice is that the antenna, base, and feed lines are all separate pieces. Mix and match however you want. The base magnet is strong. The antenna and feed lines work well. The long feed line is about 10' which is plenty for me.The 12V adapter is also OK. It's a tight fit, but does fit. It's also pretty cheap - so modify it as you will to change connectors, move the input line, etc. Personally, I think feeding the wire gets in the way because it enters at the bottom of the radio. Such is life. Maybe I'll modify this thing to use a dedicated circuit instead of a cigarette lighter socket - and put on a longer power cord while I'm at it.The speaker thing. -hate- This thing almost kills the build. The first time I contacted someone they reported weak audio. I pulled the hand set and spoke directly into the radio and my audio improved. Also, the wire coil is too short and stiff. Wayyyy to short and stiff. You end up pulling the radio around by the wire. You might as well just hold the radio.But.... It turns out that wrapping the power cord of the 12V adapter and the antenna feed line is an OK solution.Anyways, this was a fun experiment but in the end it seems better to just use a handheld as a handheld and to get a real mobile for the car.Regardless, five stars for being a nice antenna kit

Good antenna but better on VHF than UHF
Better performance and SWR on 2m than 70cm in my case. I have it mounted off-center on an SUV roof. Good antenna overall though. Looks like a basic 1/4-wave VHF.2m: SWR perfect 1.01, goes up slightly at high power, Tx very good, Rx very good70cm: SWR 1.34, goes up slightly at high power, Tx good, Rx fair/noisy.

Decent
Worked well for me. Magnet is strong and I’m able to pick up all my local repeaters. For the price, can’t complain. Haven’t got around to checking SWR.

Extreamly good value for the money.
this antenna is awesome and is triband to boot. I got it tuned to 1.0 swr on 2M and 1.47 swr on 70 Cm. 1.25M was 1.85 swr, but it still got out good enough to make repeater contact with the net. Built very well.

Works Great!
I got this to test out my new (to me) mobile radio that I will be using as a base station. I needed an antenna with a PL-259 connector to attach to the radio's UHF SO-239 connector so this fit the bill. I had to get it fast so I could meet the seller and test out the radio, so of course Amazon Prime was one of the best ways to go. Eventually I want to go with a bigger and better antenna for my base station but till then this will do. And when I do replace it I will use this antenna as it is intended as a mobile antenna (and if the occasion arises in the mean time).A huge benefit (and value) to buying this antenna is that it comes with a PL-259 connector to SMA (female) adapter which will give you the ability to use this with a HT handheld radio such as a Baofeng UV-5R. Note: the 10 inch adapter cable is of a much smaller and flexible braid, this is to not put undue stress and pressure on the HT's antenna mount. Also by buying it from BaoFeng Tech you know this is an authentic Nagoya. (I believe that this UT-72 is a BaoFeng Tech exclusive Nagoya antenna.)I see no reason to buy the UT-308UV over this antenna. The 308 might be longer but the 72 has a "super coil". The "super coil" also has the added benefit of acting as an added spring in case of clearance issues. Since the 72 includes the SMA adapter it can fit a wider range of radios. The 72 also has a longer coax, a higher max power, a higher decibel gain, and a supposed lower SWR value. Both are about the same price as of writing this ($1 difference). There are other cheaper mobile antennas out there. But not that much cheaper, do not include the adapter (~5-7 $ value) and a lot of them are fakes.TIP: To use this successfully as a base station antenna when not attached to a car as a you will need a "ground plane" for it to work right. Pretty much you need something metal to act as the bottom section of the antenna. A fridge, a filing cabinet, a cookie sheet, or what I am doing is using a pizza pan. It does not have to be a ferrous metal but if it is you have the added benefit that the magnetic base will stick to it. So far the pizza pan is working great. The construction, materials and build quality are all top notch.
