Produced exceptional results for me!
I have naturally grey / silver hair and my hairstylist suggested using a blue shampoo to highlight and enhance the silver in my hair. I chose this product and every time I have used it, I have had multiple compliments including from my husband. It brings out a natural shine in my hair and highlights the color variations that mother nature is producing in my hair. I love it!

Great for Brassy Highlights!
I recently got my hair highlighted. I knew it was going to be a gamble as my stylist was highlighting over DIY color that had red and gold undertones. When I left the salon, I wasn't super happy with how my hair looked because it was showing a lot of warmth - some pieces even looking orange. I tried to use the purple shampoo I had on hand at home and it really didn't do much to correct the issue.I ordered this product after reading promising reviews. I applied this shampoo on dry hair and left it on for 30 minutes. As you can see by the pictures, after one use there was a huge improvement in the brassiness of my hair. The shampoo is a bit drying but that is something I can deal with if it helps tone down the hair. I will continue to use this shampoo on a regular basis to keep the highlights looking nice and ashy.

More moisturizing than purple by same brand
I ordered Joico's blue shampoo to give it a try and compare it with their purple version. I was sent the conditioner in error but then sent the shampoo free without the need to return the conditioner. So this review is my experience using both the Joico Color Balance Blue Shampoo and Conditioner.First, my hair. I've been letting my natural hair grow out for the past 10 months after almost 30 years of coloring it to hide silvers. When I began this process I had my stylist put in high and low lights and use toner to mask my grow out. I wish I'd not done that though, as the processing - particularly the lightening of my naturally dark brown hair - really fried it! I tried for several months to deep condition, but eventually had my hair cut shorter and after three sessions of toner stopped any processing of my hair. Much to my surprise and delight, my new hair growth is soft, shiny and curlier than I ever expected. Unfortunately, though, the remaining colored & lightened hair tends to get brassy, thus my use of purple and with this product, blue shampoos, and conditioners to add an ashy tone to eliminate the red-orange ones.As for Joico Color Balance Blue, I tried it because I was hoping it would be even better than their purple, which works OK for me. I also use Joico's Color Butter in Titanium to add more ash tones when I'm feeling like I want something a little darker than my blondish-brown ends.Joico Blue is very blue and that is good! The deep tones neutralize blorange and did work on my hair to take out the brass. Surprisingly to me, it did not work better than the purple version, or rather it worked different.y. The blue was less drying to my hair - both the shampoo and the conditioner, which I really liked. As for its ability to neutralize orange brassiness - it was OK but seemed less effective than the purple. Maybe it's the phase of my hair's grow out or the lightening that's been done on my naturally brown-silver hair that was colored dark brown before that, but the resulting color after using the Joico Color Balance Blue was a flat, dull, non-descript blonde brown. So I liked that the Joico Color Balance Blue Shampoo and conditioner worked well together to moisturize my hair and that it did neutralize brassiness. What I wish was better was that it left behind a dull, flat tone that looked somewhat unnatural - even more than my colored hair! The purple was better in terms of its coloring (toning) effects on my hair, but it was more drying. I'm not sure why this is and I'd have to say that the only way to know which one is for you is to give them a try. I will continue to use this product as it did not harm my hair, didn't smell bad and while not exactly as I'd hoped, it's pretty good.

Great toning shampoo!
This is a great product! I’ve been slowly lightening my hair and this blue shampoo helps counteract any orangey/brassy tones in my hair. The shampoo smells good and lathers well, does what it’s supposed to do! I will continue to buy this. I use it once or twice a week.

Not a miracle cure
I recently went with blonde highlights from brunette. Parts came out brassy and orange compared to the ‘virgin’ hair that has never been treated in the past and I really noticed it after coming home from the salon. My stylist recommended a blue tone shampoo to help with toning brass. I used this and didn’t notice much of a difference from using my normal purple shampoo that was a fraction of this bottle’s cost. I did however notice my hair had a heavy and dry texture until the next wash even after conditioning. Not a bad product, but not better than a decent pigmented purple shampoo. Wouldn’t spend the money on this again.

Wondwrful
This stuff is potent! It does really work! It tinted my hand blue it’s so potent. But my light brown hairs highlights looked more blonde after so I gave this 5 stars. I was using purple shampoo before I discovered this not knowing that blue shampoo was even a thing for darker haired gals.

Definitely my go to brass kicking shampoo to maintain the cool undertones
This keeps my blonde platinum! Kicks all the brassiness out. I use it twice a week. The smell is okay. Nothing to write home about, but also not terrible. Definitely a good value. Mine has lasted five months and I have THICK long hair. It also doesn’t weigh my hair down, I have a problem with certain shampoos weighing my hair down and it being greasy by morning. I will be repurchasing.

Not a good option.
I bought this blue shampoo because it was recommended for treating unwanted orange tones, but unfortunately, it didn’t make any difference. I left it on for 15–20 minutes, and while it seemed to work while it was on, the orange tones returned immediately after rinsing. I was also disappointed to find that the bottle was already half empty. I’m honestly surprised, especially since I bought a purple shampoo at TJ Maxx for half the price and it came full.I will not buy this again.
