Q: My id has the scan feature on the back. Is the badge thin enough to scan the back?

Mine scans through the badge holder with no problem :)

Q: Is the lanyard soft or hard on the neck?

I guess it's hard and soft. The material is plastic but it's very light to have around your neck. I forget I have it on. My previous lanyard was very hard and stiff, constantly had to adjust it. Love this one it moves with you.
