The umbrella is one long stick that doesn’t compact down, but unfolds at the umbrella piece which is easy to get up and down. It seems to be built well and looks like a quality umbrella. It does have a cover for it, but I keep this in my trunk for uses with my family. It weighs about a pound so it is not heavy as I was expecting. I like that it comes with a guarantee as well if there are product issues that could unexpectedly from wind or snow. Overall I like this oversized umbrella

IT WAS NEEDED AND IT DOES THE JOB WELL

Junk, I bought this because it was supposed to be sturdy. The fiberglass pole seems like it should be tough, but it isn't. It shattered on our 4th time out. We've had the umbrella for 2 months total. I should have just bought dollar store umbrella if it was going to break so easily.
