I haven't framed mine as yet, but I think the frame should be the same size of the picture 12x16 ins.

What side do you pick up and which side is placed on the picture?

The flat side is placed on the picture. You pick up by the rounded side.

is it necessary to seal this diamond painting after finishing?

I don't know if it is NECESSARY, but I seal all of my diamond paintings.

I am looking for the larger diamond, would that be the kit for beginners.

I feel that if you can follow directions any kit will do for advanced artists as well as beginners. I've done 3-4 already and love them.

Fuzzy finished product

Easy to work this particular diamond art project but the middle of the picture does not look like the one displayed on Amazon. When enlarged on Amazon you can see that there is wooden twine wrapped around cross but when project is finished that section just looks like a bunch of different colors all jumbled up. No matter how you look at it, you cannot make out or see the twine in the piece. Very disappointed since I made it for a dear friend as a gift.
