Kilner300ML Wide Mouth Preserve Jar

Unfortunately I have to warn those who are thinking of buying this wide neck Kilner jar to think again, as you will not be able to purchase the correct size replacement vacuum discs. The instructions say they are for one use only, but Kilner only do them for the standard size. I contacted them to ask where to purchase them from and that’s how I found out. They offered to send me a one off replacement disk as a ‘goodwill gesture’ which I declined. To pay around £5-6 for a jar you can only use once and then have to recycle us ridiculous. I did ask them why this is when they do the replacements for the standard size, but I have had no further reply back to date. Thankfully I was able to return the product back to Amazon.

I was having trouble with keeping my sourdough starters’ home clean in a preserve jar. You know - those ones with the clips.Now it has a new home in this jar, one that is easy to clean, has measurement marks on the sides, and is super easy to get stuff in and out of. The lid can be places loosely on top too which helps with some gas release as well as helping to maintain temperatures.If you’re looking for a jar to get some sourdough starter going, look no further.

Kilner 0.5l jarOrdered the 1 litre, got sent the 0.5.I let it go and used it anyway. After several times of opening and closing, the metal clasp punched a hole straight through the side of the glass jar, spraying glass shards all over the contents. Don’t buy!

I already own several of these jars and was very pleased with them. so I ordered some more. The inside of one of the lids was scratched but since I was going to use plastic lids, this did not concern me. I made my kimchi as usual and placed it in my new jars. Imagine my shock when I tried to put identical glass weights I had used previously with other Kilner wide-mouthed jars into my newly purchased jars... They would not fit! The inside diameter of was too small!!!! I have contacted Kilner but have yet to receive a reply.

Had a lot of searching for a wide mouth jar to use with sprouting lids. Super happy with my choice of kilner. Makes a perfect size jar for majority of sprouting lids, as always, liking the design as always! Arrived quickly and safely. Thanks!
