Heavy-duty, Well-made!!!
Bought an Oster A5 clipper and it came with a #10 blade. I needed to use the guide combs since my dog is double-coated and very long. My friend (who is a groomer) told me I needed to use a #40 blade if I was going to use the guide combs...the guides do not work well with a #10 blade. The 40 blade is fantastic! It took me over 2 hours to get the job done and the blade was still cutting like new. I also used the Kool Lube spray as necessary, to keep the blade a good temp. My dog is not "professionally" groomed by any stretch, but he looks good and feels even better. Also, he loves lying on his side and letting me "massage" him with the clippers. He only stands up for the finishing touches on his tail and legs. I also bought a 5F and a 7F blade for finishing touches and his tummy. The #10 blade I use for his paws, top and bottom. The whole outfit is fantastic and was purchased from Amazon! Thanks Amazon! A must buy!!!

Surgical trimming blade!!!
Just got it last week and i've used it many times. I have an oster A5 trimming machine and with this blade it works as perfect as i expected. I'm a veterinarian from nicaragua and we cannot get this stuff here so i used to get the cheap ones from supermarkets and they didn't lasted long. Now that i met oster blades i think i'm not going to change.I know nothing about grooming, i use this to clear hair from surgery place or clear hair around injuries or whatever medical procedure that needs aseptic conditions and it's working perfectly. In fact i'm planning to get a couple more to keep them here at the clinic if the one i have brokes up.Recommended for veterinarians!!

Perfect for my needs
I have to shave a little spot on my cat's belly every few weeks for some transdermal medication that we spray on him daily. This does a great job of shaving down to the skin. My vet told me they use a 40 blade for shaving animals before surgery or for those who need the transdermal meds.I used this with an Andis clipper that came with a 10 blade. They are easily interchangeable, and this one does a great job. My cat even holds still and hardly seems to notice I'm doing anything to him.

fair price for good clipper blade
Works fine on my elderly cats mats as he won't let us brush him anymore

Very effective too for trimming poodle's feet
This clipper blade came sharp and was very effective in trimming my poodle's feet and under-belly. Oster makes a quality product. Other reviews complain about the clipper blades getting so hot so quick. All clipper blades must be kept clean, lubricated and COOL.When a clipper blade gets dirty (and it will from grinding up small particles of hair) the har melts and sticks to the clipper blade surfaces. Once this happens, the blades will get very hot very quickly. Once this occurs the blades must be cleaned (taken apart and honed). To prevent this, the blades need to be dipped periodically in a cleaning solution and checked very often for temperature. Once the blades are getting close to hot to touch, remove the blade and let it cool. All professional groomers use more than one clipper. Clipper motors also get warm after considerable use. Clipper blades need to be oiled every ten minutes of use.

Good quality, lasting sharpness
I purchased this about 8 months ago and use it about 1-2x a week to clip dogs and cats - anal areas and matts. It has stayed sharp and has worked well so far. I would get another.

Love it. But...
Great blade, can't believe I got it on amazon. 40's aren't always great but this one runs very smooth. Really gets those pads clean. In the customer question section it says to use with a snap on comb. DON'T! Only use 30's under snap ons if you can help it. Also this blade is best for doing very small areas. The pads of the feet, the inside of the ears, under the eyes if the dog has terrible drainage. Otherwise, I would never use this on a whole dog at all. It's just to short and can damage the hair follicles. If you must have your dog very short, go for the 7 blade, 10 for very matted areas. I am very confused by all the comments, I hope we are all talking about different blades and that people aren't shaving their Samoyeds or poodles all the way down with a 40.

cuttin' butter
Compared to the #10 that came on my old clipper, this thing works like a charm. The #10 always got snagged on matts and even skin, but these finer teeth actually seem to make it less sensitive to angle and also less likely to feed in a piece of skin, even though it obviously gives a closer result.
