A must for emergency kits!
3M Steri strips should be part of everyone's emergency kit, and we've used them for years. They're perfect when you have a cut that isn't deep enough for stitches, but which needs to be held together for healing.Last fall I cut myself on a piece of tin in our barn, and these saved me a trip to urgent care or the doctor. I let it bleed a little, then washed the wound out well with hibiclens. Once I dried around it with a paper towel, I applied some tincture of benzoin and when it had dried a little I applied the steri strips (using them to pull the edges of the cut together). The cut was a little over an inch long and I used three 1/8" strips across it. I covered the area with gauze and tape, and kept it covered for several days. The benzoin held the strips on longer and better than just the adhesive, and a week later it all peeled off by itself. It's been 6 months since I cut myself and the scar is barely visible. Even if I'd gotten stitches, there would have been a worse scar with the little dots the stitches leave.I just bought this order of 10 packages (5 strips in each package) to replenish what we've used in the last few years. We keep and use them past the expiration date, as long as the package is sealed and sterile. The benzoin makes up for any loss of sticky-ness age might cause.A word of advice: keep your tetanus booster up to date so cuts like mine don't give you tetanus. And, if you can't get the bleeding stopped, the cut is deeper than 1/4" or so, or you can't get it truly cleaned out, go see a doctor and have it cared for properly.

No home should be without this!
I am a retired RN and usually have a set of steri-strips on hand to apply to cuts that aren't deep enough to merit a trip to the ER. I had run out and had an unfortunate accident with a mandolin slicer that resulted in part of the skin from my thumb being sliced away about 90%. I had ordered these and they arrived quickly and I was able to dress the wound properly, and as a result saved the strip of skin and my thumb healed 100%! These things are worth it - and I highly recommend them! The thinner strips are easy to cut to shorter lengths, and hold small cuts together well while they heal.

Good Stuff - Hopefully You Won't Need Them
They hold small wounds together well. If you cut the hell out of yourself, or someone else does, these will act as a butterfly bandage. Don't substitute these for stitches if you are cut that badly. These are for cuts that are worse than regular band aids can handle. It's good to keep these on hand "just in case". I have them in my first aid kit in the section where I keep stuff for major problems.

Great for that Emergency Room Savings on stitches.
These are nice and handy for anyone that messes with sharp, pointy things, or is just a clutz. They are the same as I used in the Home Health/Hospice field and in several Long Term Care Facilities I worked in before retiring from Nursing.I mentioned that they are easy to remove, but if you use them to close a cut, you don't remove them. You let them stay on the wound until they just fall off or until they loosen so much that they are no longer effective. As long as you clean the cut area well and dry off the surrounding skin area, these work well. I use them for fairly shallow, small cuts that would only take 1-4 sutures in those times I can't get to a Doctor fairly quick . Just make sure to pull the cuts edges together before applying the Seri-Strips. Then have your Dr. look at it as soon as you can.Everyone needs a pack or two of these in their 1st aid kit, back pack, tackle box, ect.

Good quality, branded steri-strips at a good price point
Good quality, branded steri-strips at a good price. Not exactly something that you want to have to use but a good item to keep in your med pack. In the field this is an excellent option for self use rather than attempting stitching yourself up and a good quick way of closing up an injury on someone else. As with all items of this type you need to know what to use, when, how and where so at least basic training in first-aid is recommended.

A must have for your medical kit
Simply a must for your BOB or medical kit, you do have a medical kit for home and in your car don't you? Better to be prepared and have than to be in a situation where "gee I wish I had something to close this wound other than a band-aid" However, I will say the caveat is that you should also buy tincture of Benzoin because the adhesion of the Steri strips is lacking to say the least. If you buy one you need to buy the other or you will suffer on the road ahead.

Thin poor adhesion NOT TO REPLACE SUTURES
I should have noted the size . Do not adhere well leading me to believe these are old or stored incorrectly. 3M is a quality brand and strips always adhere strongly with a dry wound. These are very thin. I am an RN and these are great to have around. I see comments here including "medical professionals " claiming these replace sutures. NO absolutely not! These are used when staples and sutures are removed . Sutures are first deep wounds they stop profuse bleeding prevent infection and major scarring . Go to an ER if you have large bleeding wounds. Highly recommend 3M skin prep to aid adhesion of strips.
