The Thrawn Trilogy Boxed Set: Star Wars Legends: Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command (Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy - Legends) Paperback – May 31, 2022

The Thrawn trilogy is one of my favorite Star Wars stories in any medium, and I always wanted a nice boxed set of it. This version not only has a boxed set but the size (Paperback vs older versions in MMPB) improves its shelf presence and display.As for the story?as I mentioned - one of my favorites and with good reason - this has everything a fan of classic Star wars wants in a story, and also charts new narrative territory (yes, the Expanded Universe has been 'decanonized' after the Disney acquisition), so to me it's both a great story in its own right as well as a Star Wars classic!

I originally read these three novels, when they first came out in paperback thirty years ago. Reading each of the three books, all those years ago, I was blown away by the writing, characterization of both the "old" and "new" protagonists, and antagonists, , plotting, and pacing, crafted by Timothy Zahn. After I finished the final book, this trilogy became my favorite Star Wars in any medium. After my recent reread, which only took me five days, I agree with my original thoughts. These three books are light years ahead of Lucas' prequel trilogy, and galaxies ahead of the sequel trilogy movies. As I mentioned above, Zahn's characterization of Luke, Leia, Han, etc, and his original characters, such as Mara Jade, and Thrawn , were outstanding. His other pre-Disney SWs Extended Universe novels, and his own original works are also well worth your time to read, and enjoy.

Our Star Wars grandson loves to read. He loved this book set. Highly recommended ✅** recommend to start early with books -toddlers, get books magazines or whatever “their” interests in. That snags the attention and love for reading.

If you want to read an amazing star wars story from before Disney drove the franchise into the ground, this is your go to. I'm glad it's getting new reprints for future generations, I just wish they had a hardcover option.

The books are pretty good that isn’t the issue of why this review is a 4 star. The reason for the 4 star is because of the box set quality. The box that the books come in is very flimsy and it looks nice from a far but when you get closer you can see that it’s not worth the retail price. I would recommend getting this box set while it’s on sale like I did. Besides that the story is very interesting and is definitely worth reading if that is why you are buying it. If you are buying it for the box set part I wouldn’t recommend doing it unless like I said before It is on sale. 5 stars for the books but a 4 star for the box set part in my opinion.

Mr. Zahn has created one of the most interesting characters in any work of fiction. The plot and dialogue are engaging. You won’t want to put the book down and will want more once you finish it.

This set of books is awesome! I love the Thrawn series and having this set is another great addition to my Star Wars collection. I will say the sleeve is a little more flimsy than I expected but still would get this whole set over buying each one individually.

The Thrawn trilogy is some of the best Star Wars writing. Timothy Zahn builds good storylines and characters. The books are even better since I'm reading from a whole new perspective than I read from before.
