Cavallo Pastern Wrap for Horse Hoof Boot, Large

Q: My horse got a fairly serious wire cut on his heel bulb/pastern. Would this help protect the area temporarily once it's healed?

I tired to do the same thing and unfortunately, it just doesn’t stay put unless used with the cavallo hoof boot (different product) and you’d have to pull horses shoe to use that. I found the gel form fitting bell boots to work the best (they look like the shape of horses foot)

Q: Do thsese do good on trails

I have used them with my Cavallo boots. If you put them on right, they stay put (watch the youtube video). But even when I have followed instructions, they slide sometimes. I finally ended up switching my one horse who rubbed constantly to the easy boot back country and have had no issues. It's much easier to put on than having to fuss with pastern wraps and boots.

I believe it would be to large.

Q: Does this have to be used with a boot?? Or can it be for used by itself for added protection

It can be used by itself, that is how we use them.
