Keeps my wife's gallbladder issues and muscle cramps under control
My wife developed gallbladder stones and started experiencing terrible pain and nausea as a result. Two consults with a surgeon and an internist both resulted in recommendation for surgical removal. We weren't thrilled about that, and I read online that maybe tens of thousands of gallbladder removals in the US aren't necessary. Also, about 5% of people who have their gallbladders removed experience terrible side effects, some having to eat zero-fat diets for the rest of their lives to avoid severe stomach upsets. At first we tried "Stone Breakers" pills on Amazon, which seemed to stop her immediate gallbladder attacks. Those are expensive, and could be harsh on her body, so they didn't seem like a long-term solution to prevent her gallstones from building up.After a lot of online research, we decided to try malic acid, and since she started taking one of these daily, there have been no more gallbladder attacks, for at least 3-4 months. Before, gallbladder attacks were a monthly occurrence. I wish I could get her to drink more water on a consistent basis, take high-quality magnesium supplements and deal with stress in a better way, but at least these pills seem to prevent the gallbladder attacks. Malic acid is a natural ingredient in apples and pears, so I see no long-term health concerns over taking it daily. As a side note, the one or two days she ran out of these malic acid pills (and didn't think ahead to reorder them!), she immediately experienced severe muscle cramps in her feet and toes, something she has dealt with most of her life. BUT, as long as she has been taking malic acid, her foot cramps have stopped. If you're taking a high quality magnesium supplement for anything, such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, muscle pain or heart issues, it is recommended to add malic acid, which is shown to help the body absorb magnesium more effectively. Malic acid has definitely helped reduce my wife's gallstones and prevent gallbladder attacks, as well as stopped her muscle cramps.

Highly Recommended
I am really happy with this product. Malic acid is one of the most effective substances yet found for removing aluminum from your body [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3391623]. According to the literature, aluminum is linked to a whole host of auto-immune disorders, fibromyalgia, and Alzheimer's and dementia. I started taking malic acid due to having very high levels of aluminum in my system that resulted in Lupus-like symptoms, and it has worked amazingly well. My symptoms have subsided and my cognitive function has improved tremendously.A word of advice to anyone reading this. It took six months of taking malic acid every day for it to completely clear up my symptoms. Aluminum is very difficult to remove from the body as it becomes incorporated into your bones and soft tissue. A dose of 2400mg of malic acid is recommended for removing aluminum [http://informahealthcare.com/doi/abs/10.3109/13590849208997961], and magnesium is also required for chelation.

Worked great for me!
I purchased this after I read that it would be a good substitute for drinking apple juice during a gallbladder cleanse. After using Malic Acid for over half a dozen cleanses, I would say it works just fine! In fact for my first cleanse I passed stones before even drinking the oil/grapefruit mixture!Originally, I was searching for a way to cut out the massive amounts of sugar that drinking tons of apple juice can bring. This is a sure way to go! I usually take at least 2-3 tablets a day for six days and then drink epsom salts at 6/7, 7/8 and 9/10 (depends one what time I start for the evening). By 10 or 11 I drink the oil/grapefruit mixture and go to bed. The next day is always successful in passing GB stones. I also just did a cleanse where every night I took the oil/grapefruit mixture and that worked great too!I have been very satisfied in using this product and will continue to do so! But I still caution you to do your research- I do know some people who did not have as good a result using this.

Works for us
I am typically skeptical about nutritional supplements...especially as I have RRMS and there are legions of bad/misleading info out there with crazy promises if "only you take x,y,z or follow this crazy diet etc."However, I'd heard that Malic Acid is recommended for fybromyalgia pain, AND it is a building-block of a new RRMS drug that is scheduled to come out later in 2012 (BG12) so I figured I'd give it a whirl.I've not noticed any more/less MS'y feelings or symptoms out-of-the-ordinary...BUT my skin looks great! I had mild/moderate Roseacea on my cheeks and nose and it's almost completely gone and I'm less blotchy and dry on my arms and chest.Since I was taking Malic Acid, my husband decided he wanted to try it too. My husband has mild plaque psoriasis on his arms/hands and it has cleared up nicely as well. I supposed I could attribute his skin improvements to the weather getting warmer, but usually warmer weather means a flare of my roseacea -- so I think it's working nicely on our skin (just not noticed any energy/fatigue improvements.)We're going to continue taking it, I asked my neurologist about it and she was piqued and said "if it helps, go for it - it certainly can't harm in moderation".
