A skeptic is converted
I tried these samples because I'm really sick of plastic. I honestly didn't expect to like solid shampoo very much. But I'm here to say this stuff is AMAZING. First off, you need SO LITTLE of it that you won't believe. My hair is very long-- down to my tailbone. All I have to do is lather up the soap in my hands, then apply it to my head; ONE application is enough to get my scalp and hair clean. And my hair feels SO soft, and it has revived the waves in my hair which I didn't expect or even consider. I am still on the very first sample-sized bar and it's been 2.5 weeks. A total bargain, an amazing clean, and best of all so much better for the planet we share. NEW HAMPSHIRE-MADE too!!

Good product
I was a bit dismayed when the sampler pack arrived because it looked like the box had been opened. I did find that the package contained 2 bars of Coconut & Argan oil shampoo instead of 1 bar of Jojoba and Peppermint which I was excited to try. Because I had 2 bars of the coconut/argan I decided to try that first.Even though the bars are small, they seem to last a long time- 2-3 weeks -so I've only had a chance to try one but, I look forward to trying the others. I have thick, curly, frizzy hair and the coconut and argan left it feeling soft and manageable. I didn't notice much of a scent which is okay because I don't like strong fragrances. I also LOVE that it's made close to where I live.My only complaint is that JR Liggett's doesn't make a conditioning bar. The shampoo is advertised as not needing a conditioner but, my hair type and texture demands a conditioner. Other than that, I'm very happy with the product and once I try all the bars, I will definitely buy products from this company again.

Amazing Clean, Little Scent
Hair: thin, fine and naturally produces a lot of oil. Growing out from a pixieMy team: These shampoos, Leggitt conditioner bar, satin bonnet for sleep, and corn starch baby powder in place of dry shampoo.Ok this is my first time with a bar shampoo that I used more than 3 washes. I have 3.75 bars left and they each last me just shy of a month. My hair really does respond to the different bars, so I’m really glad I bought this pack instead of just picking one. I totally intend to use these as gifts (when my family is ready bar shampoo is a mental adjustment)My husband is extremely sensitive to smells. He does not mind the bars themselves, and now he sometimes comes and deeply inhales my hair for emotional grounding. Highly recommend for sensory sensitive people. My care cycle: wash with shampoo, twice if I still feel oil after the first wash. It took me a while to come around but I’ve decided that they are right: scrub the bar in your hands and then apply to hair. I only need to condition every 2 weeks or so. I usually shower at night, and then brush my hair (I know I can’t keep that up as it gets longer). When I wake up she is clean, shiny (but not as shiny as when I conditioned with placenta in a bottle every day) and a little sassy. If I shower every night (judgment eyes elsewhere please) I can keep track of how the oil is building up. Usually on day 2 or 3 I will want to do my dry shampoo in the morning and wash that night. Longer than than in we are in never-take-off-this-hat. I store the bar in the shower on a bar soap holder that lets it dry out of the range of the actual shower head/normal drip trails.

Waxy residue
I bought the sampler pack to try. While the bars are small, one bar is more than enough for lots of shampoos. I love the idea of going plastic free. My hair is wavy, fine but thick. It’s color treated, so I used the Moisturizing bar. I shampooed twice and made sure to rinse well. My hair felt like it was coated with wax. It looked dull. It felt and looked like I had used an entire can of dry shampoo on it. It was very tangled. I waited a day and then used it again, this time shampooing once. My hair did feel better this time around, but was still dull and still had that waxy, dirty feel to it. I waited another day and used my regular shampoo and it took three tries before I could get that waxy feeling out of my hair. I have yet to try the other formulas in the box, but when I’m brave enough, I will update.I tried the herbal bar, thinking it would leave my hair feeling cleaner but it still left that waxy buildup. I love the idea of a shampoo bar, but this is not good!

Conditioner Definitely Needed
I read a lot of reviews online before landing on trying J.R.'s shampoo bars as my first non-bottle product.Pros: Leaves your hair squeeky clean, no residue. No skin irritation. Lathers well.Cons: No scent, barely even a hint. As part of the squeeky clean feeling, your hair doesn't feel sleek and moisturized. Instead, the best way I can describe it is the way your hair clumps and sticks together after being in the ocean. The lack of the conditioner leaves my hair impossible to brush, a problem I didn't have with liquid shampoo alone before. They also state on the package "no conditioner needed". Definitely not true. So, in a pinch I'd use this on vacation if I didn't have to worry about my hair looking nice, or if I had short hair maybe regularly. (I have shoulder length). But overall, not for me. Hope the review helps others!

A perfect sample set and stocking stuffer - also good for travel.
Perfect for seeing if solid shampoo is right for you and your family (we really like them). We bought the big bars after trying these out - (It's right for us, also no more big plastic bottles where you wonder how much is left)I like them, although I'll be honest my nose isn't the best so they all smell the same to me.But another big thing was how useful they are for travel! We went on a cruise and packed one of the little bars - it lasted the whole week and took up zero room. When you have to limit your liquids a solid bar of shampoo is a no-brainer.
