Q: Does the filter soften hard water?

I used a water hardness meter and unfortunately it made no difference for me.

Q: I may be confusing the description but you are able to use both the shower head and handheld at the same time correct!

It says it has 3 modes, it shows it using the rainfall shower head that’s mounted, then the hand held by itself, and then both together at the same time I’d hope it does the 3 flows that it says it has

Q: Is there a filter in the hand pc and if so does it filter out as many impurities As the filter in the shower head does ?

The whole set has only one filter, who flows through the 8″ square rain shower head and hand shower is filtered through the filter.

Q: The top of the water filter that connects to the arm is wider than my existing shower arm. Is there an adapter for this?

Yes you can purchase the extender from who you brought you shower head.
