Works well, if it fits your needs
Looking for a way to connect my 2.1ch desktop speakers to my TV I came across this converter. My TV only has an optical output for sound while my nice 2.1 speaker set only has a RCA input for sound. This converter works to convert the TV optical output signal to my speakers rca input. What is even better with this converter is that it's also a digital audio controller (DAC). Thanks to the handy included remote, I can now adjust the speaker volume from anywhere in the room. The converter does it's job and I haven't noticed any reduced quality in sound. All components appear to be good quality with no defects. If you are looking to do the same as me, the only extra item you need is an AUX or RCA cables to connect to your own sound system. Everything else is included.

Listen to your television through your vintage stereo system!
This simple inexpensive digital converter box has turned my living room into a concert hall. So great to listen to YouTube or Pandora direct from streaming on my TV through my stereo. Works great! Highly recommended product for folks with vintage audio receivers that want to listen to their television through their home stereo system. Easy setup. Took me ten minutes.

Works Great!
I needed to add a remote control to adjust the volume level of External Powered Speakers on an older TV. The audio level on my TV Line Output (RCA L/R) is fixed so the TV remote does not work. My TV does have Optical, so I got this device. At first try, this did not work. My Toslink has been working great on other devices but not on this adapter. I assumed the adapter was DOA, But I was so wrong. As it turns out, my Toslink Cable was the culprit. Use the included TOSLINK Cable! It Works Great! This is also a very solid device in a metal box. The only observation is that the remote seems to be very flimsy, but it works very well.Neoteck Customer Support was fantastic. They respond to messages quickly!

Simple solution for adding remote volume control
Most of the marketing on the product page on Amazon is driven toward use of this DAC with a TV.I actually purchased this DAC for use in a home stereo application to add remote volume control. It is installed between a BluRay player and an Integrated Amplifier (where this older amplifier does not have a remote control for volume). Connection is via optical output from the BluRay player to the optical input of this DAC. RCA cable output from the DAC goes to an input on the Integrated Amplifier. I set the Integrated Amp volume knob to a reasonable volume level and then the volume buttons on the DAC remote control can adjust the volume down as needed. The unit works very well for this purpose listening to CD's. It does not support multi-channel audio, so this is a 2channel stereo setup only. Initial setup was very quick and simple. Sound is quite good and no noise or other problems are noted. It does not come with a power supply, but this is really not an issue as any typical cell phone charger is all that is needed to supply power. Others have commented that the DAC unit is very sensitive to where the remote control is pointed. I do not find this to be the case in my situation where the DAC unit is placed about 10 feet from the listening chair and at a height somewhatlower. For the money a nice little product.

Works ok ... But beware...
So it performs the functions fine. You can control the volume with the remote and the sound quality is fine. But if you turn the power off or turn the unit off with the remote WATCH OUT!!! When you turn it back on - BLAST!! The volume turns back on at MAXIMUM!!! If you are not careful you can blow out your speakers. Customer service seems to be non-existent. No answer back from emails. Other users have said this in normal. If you ask me I think it is kind of stupid to design a product with the default volume set to max. I just never turn it off. Seems to work.

Great product.
Works great. I have a 400 watt 12" sub that I didn't have any way to hook up or control with my new projector. This work perfectly.
