The stitches are few but more than enough for all your sewing projects. The built quality is far superior to the fs70wt, the Brother nv15 will give you good reliable performance well over 10 years

Q: Do you operate this machine the old fashioned way with a foot pressure pad under the table ?

No, you have a choice. You can use the foot pedal which sits on the floor or you can use a stop or go button on the front of the machine. You can govern the speed which is ideal for more intricate sewing. Lovely machine to use

Q: Can the electronic sounds of the buttons be switched off? It must get annoying after a while?

The electronic sounds only sound as the stitch is changed. I don't even notice it in our shop.
