Peltor Tac Sport Ear defenders
Did a lot of research before buying these ear defenders. Looked at several other makes, and even tried on the Howard Leight impact sports. Decided to go with these as our existing ear defenders are Peltor, and although they are not electronic they have given excellent service. As we expected from Peltor these are well made, and very comfortable. They grip hard enough not to fall off even if running, but not so hard as to be uncomfortable. Unlike earlier or cheaper makes, these don't simply clip the sound by switching off the earpiece momentarily, they actually compress the sound wave to lower its volume to an acceptable level, so you done realise it is doing its thing. Gel earpads work great if you wear specs, as they simply seal around them. They arrive in a blister pack, together with a spare pair of alternate colour covers which are easily changed, and a soft cloth drawstring bag to put them in. These are a considered purchase, but worth the money. you can pay a lot more for units that are not nearly as good. UPDATE. After 9 years of loyal use, we have a problem with both pairs of these headsets. The cables are crumbling on both pairs to the point where you can plainly see the wires inside them. All is not lost however, it must be a known problem as 3M supply a headband/wiring kit which can be changed out. 3M will not supply them to the public however due to stupid American privacy laws, so you have to source them from a UK dealer. Cost between £50-£70. still worth doing rather than paying £175 for a new set. 3M will do the work for you but it ends up costing nearly as much as a new pair.

Hear What You Want
Just taken up shooting so advised to get hearing protection and this was one of the brands mentioned. Product is well constructed with a good quality feel. Comes with two sets of outer headset end caps (basically a red set and a black set so you can change the appearance to suit yourself) which are easy ro change by sliding out a catch and then slotting the cover into place. Most obvious benefit of these protectors is that they have a built in (battery powered) amplifier in each side which allows you to set the volume of what yoo can hear while wearing the protectors. In other words have a conversatiin while wearing them. This sounds daft but the electronics are designed to cut off the sound of gunfire immediately it happens, so that you get the best of both worlds - the ability to have a conversation/hear instructions but know that your hearing is protected from loud/close gunfire. Seems to work well and yoh only realsid just how well when you take them off! There are a few different brands available and I chose this product based on reviews I'd read and knowing that 3M is generally a reliable brand. Very pleased with these which I reckon are good value for money and well worth spending the extra cost to get the dynamic sound management instead of static protectors.

Short Lifespan.
Another reviewer is correct. They lasted only a short period and one EAR went SILENT !!!Very disappointed considering they are only used once a week and more so because theycertainly are NOT cheap. £150.Look elsewhere !!!

I don’t know what I’d do without them now
If you’re in the market for a set of premium ear defenders, look no further than these. As basic ear defenders they do the job perfectly, but once you turn on the in-build microphones, they become even more useful. Cutting out high frequency noises associated with shooting, these are a perfect companion, you can wear them all day and hear everyone talking around you. Perfect for a clay pigeon shoot.Battery life is impressive as are the controls on the outside of the ear defenders themselves. Three buttons, on/off, raise volume and lower volume. All in all very impressed.

Excellent ear defenders
Purchased as a replacement pair and very happy with my purchase. These are great ear defenders and are comfortable to wear and are easy to maintain with replacement ear pads, etc if required.Previous pair still work fine but the protective rubber sheath covering the cables has perished and they look tired and worn but they are old and well used.Quality is very good, price is reasonable and they have proven to be a very good investment and although I have looked and tried others, I believe these are the best in relation to performance, comfort and value for money.

No more "What did you say?".
These are wonderful ear defenders. Absolute clarity of sound and, with the "clipping" of high-end dangerous levels rather than a total sound shut-off, lower level speech can still be heard. This is a most useful feature for safe range work, whether you are shooting or a RO. Comfortable to wear for a very long time. I even leave mine on when out of the firing range and in the clubhouse for brief periods. Have not found them to get in the way of rifle or shotgun stock - but I suppose we all have different shaped faces. Worth the money? Definitely!
