Lovely cage for a Syrian long haired hammy
Caught my eye when I was looking for a deep cage that a Syrian could burrow in. Received this product extremely quickly and was impressed with how easy it was to assemble. My hamster, Prince, is loving it so far and I've already changed things around in there and added some of my own toys etc. It's easy to move the platforms etc about so you can keep your pet entertained. The only shortfall I would say is the wheel, it is a little too small for a Syrian and also was making quite a lot of noise on the first night so I took it out. Easily replaceable though. I can also tell that when my hammy reaches full size the house will need replacing too. Doesn't come with a water bottle so you will need to get one of those and I have filled the bottom with sawdust and Prince hasn't managed to kick any out of the cage! Overall, I think this is a superb cage, both to look at and in terms of practicality. I would agree with other reviewers that it would be handy for the seller to supply a couple of replacement wooden ramps just as these can go a bit manky over time. Great cage!

Perfect setup for 2 Gerbils!
Love love love the actual tank/ cage! Caters for the depth required to allow your gerbils to burrow and dig but also gives the floor plan to allow them to explore and run about. By having wooden ladders and shelves there are no nasty wire bars that could get little gerbil feet and tails caught in them therefore creating a safe environment for your rodents. The tank is good quality aquarium grade glass and so is chew-proof, a must for gerbils!I have 2 gerbils in this tank and believe this is the maximum that could fit comfortably! The accessories are less exciting as they are plastic and therefore potentially chew-able. I still use the food bowl that came with this tank but have since removed the house and replaced the wheel. The wheel is noisy (and not large enough for fully grown gerbils) - it squeaks and wobbles on its axle banging against the cage. If you are buying this set-up over another purely because of the accessories please think again! If not, go for it! I am incredibly pleased with my gerbils new home. (I have been using this cage for 3 months now and no issues)

Owned for 2.5 years - could do with replacement wooden platforms.
Brilliant cage. Great shape, easy to put together and easy to clean. Good size for the gerbils to run around. The gerbil breeder from whom we bought our gerbils said it was the best cage she'd ever seen. Glass base has proved so much nicer than the plastic versions. Well worth the money. Two and a half years on, I would add the following: As other reviewers have mentioned, the wooden platforms do end up being used as toilets by the gerbils and, despite continual efforts to keep them clean, they do end up smelling very bad indeed. It would be really useful if replacement ones could be bought. Also, we found the glass base was not deep enough to keep all the detritus in that the gerbils like to kick about, so it is now placed in a much larger (open topped) clear plastic box. The plastic wheel is too big for the cage, doesn't turn particularly well, and the gerbils will chew it. This was considered (by a vet) accountable for one of my gerbils developing gastric problems - it is much better to stick to wooden accessories. Also, the ladders are also a little large and cumbersome for the cage and we ended up removing one as the gerbils could hop up to the first platform without it. \Having said all this, I have found the cage easy to use, a good size for two small gerbils (nothing bigger), it is aesthetically attractive and has not broken in any way.

Good cage for syrian hamster who loves to burrow
The first delivery of the cage arrived with the glass base smashed, but a replacement arrived within two days and was perfect. It was simple to put together, although like someone else I had to cut down the ladders by two portions as I found them too long, I just used a hacksaw and sanded. The ladders dont have much of a grip but this doesn't seem to bother our hammy. The clips feel secure, and there is plenty of space for her inside. The house and wheel are too small for a syrian hamster but they are easily replaced. Plenty deep enough that she can burrow into the shavings and not make a mess on my floor :) This is our third cage we've tried and I think we'll definitely stick with this one.

Looks better than practicality
It’s a nice small little cage. I’d only house one animal in it. Unfortunately mine came with cracked corners and a corner stand missing. Also I find the doors shut so loosely it’s very easy for an animal to open especially if they chew or push bars. I have a DWARF hamster. Unfortunately Iv had to take the ramp out as he can fit himself through the bars and escape. Which I found out within 4 mins of assembling. The door has a huge gap at the side and it’s simply held on by slitting I to a loose metal clip.Easy basic set up for one large rodent I’d say.

Cruel to keep pets in.
One door catches so tightly on the cage it has striped the black cover off the metal. Door is also not secure enough to contain a gerbil; she can open it from the inside (and has escaped as a result).Glass base is possibly slightly to shallow to allow for enough bedding to dig and to contain the bedding within the cage. The wheel is too small for a gerbil so definitely to small for most hamsters. It is an okay size for my lone gerbil but is a bit small for 2.House had to be removed as she was chewing and plastic is not safe to eat, better off with wooden or a cardboard boxedit; I got this tank when I got my gerbil over a year ago, with research since this is absolutely too small for gerbils and hamsters! General rule for gerbils is 20 gallons for one or 2 plus 10 gallons for each additional minimum this should be a tank ideally and a minimum of 6'' deep bedding should be provided. Including the topper (which shouldn't be included) this tank is 12 gallons: not gerbil appropriate!Hamsters need 240 square inches of unbroken floor space, this is also far too small to meet that!Keeping a pet in one of these tanks is like keeping a human in the cupboard under the stairs their entire life!
