Q: Would it be suitable for men's pyjamas

I imagine so. I bought it about 5 years ago for a theatrical production so didn't wash it. I expect it would soften up nicely once washed.

Roughly about half an inch wide. Hope this helps.

The strIves run vertically down the grain so yes they will run waist to ankle. The fabric was good quality and washed well.
