Does a good job at an affordable price.
I love this stone. It was my first wet stone since watching burrfection channel on YouTube. I didn't want to spend too much on a stone and this king brand was spot on. I used the 1000 grit (red) side to fix a could of knifes I had chipped over time but also great for creating the edge when you hold your knife at a 12.5 degree angle. The 6000 grit (yellowish) side was great to polish the edge. This helps to get a nice finish. The grit on the 6000 collects metal from polishing the edge so I used the rust rubber to clean the pores again cool trick from burrfection. My knifes passed the paper test, but the real test is when you chop tomatoes, the knife should just glide without any need for force. I sharpen my knifes using the stone once a month with normal family cooking use.

King Japanese Grit Whetstone
A bit pricey after finding very similar ones which were much cheaper but it is an excellent product and I was able to sharpen all my blunt knives back to razor sharp again. I spent the extra money buying this particular whetstone because it was recommended by a chef on YouTube. It is a quality product and does a great job. It did take rather a long time to arrive though. I think it actually came from Japan. I would recommend it though.

Excellent whetstone for beginners
The King KW-65 was my first whetstone purchase and I'm delighted with it. All the kitchen knives are now incredibly sharp, as are my outdoor knives. The additional blade guide is a great help in getting a feel for how to position your blade for the optimal sharpening angle. I was able to use these whetstones to take chips out of the edge of the blade and return them to a new condition. Although the skill of sharpening improves with experience, I found that performing 100 strokes (eg. on each side of the blade) on the 1000 grain stone, 30 strokes on the 6000 grain, and 50 on a leather strop (or belt) provided razor sharp edges. My next purchase will likely be a dressing stone to keep these whetstones in excellent, flat condition. Great product, great price. Stones arrived in excellent packaging and without any marks.

Good value for money
The stones are performing well after several uses and not showing much wear and tear. The blade angle guide is not necessary and badly scratched the side of one of my knives. I recommend avoiding it.

In a class of its own.
I ordered this item on 02/12/17 and it was very promptly despatched by the supplier from Japan on 04/12/17. I was, as informed by the supplier, that the item may arrive after Christmas. I thought that this was totally acceptable as the item was fragile and coming from Japan. I was absolutely delighted and amazed today (06/12/17) to receive the item today via Japanese post. The item was expertly packaged. I have already used it and it has totally brought back to life my Global, Gustav Emil Em and Sabatier (original manufacturer in carbon steel). knives. This whetstone is amazing and far far superior to its Chinese counterparts. Well work the money. In time I intend to use it on my new Zelite knives. In a class of its own.

Proper stone
I had similar stones from amazon but for £20 and I can tell you there is huge difference in them and the way they sharpen your knife. 6000 on a 20£ stone never left mirror shine edge on my knife compare to this King stone. I would highly recommend this combination of stones for anyone.

Hair shaving sharp knives
Had this a week now. First time I’ve used a wet stone so started off with some cheap knives we had kicking around. It’s all about technique get that right and you’ll be right with this product. I can’t compare it to any other stone as I’ve never used one. Get some practice in, make sure you keep your stone wet and give it a good soak before use. Keep your angle tight and take your time (it can take over an hour just to get a burr on a blunt knife with this stone) after a few tries you’ll soon get a feel for it and the results will be far far better than any other method of sharpening. I’m actually considering buying myself a better selection of grits. But for home sharpening this combination is spot on. My wife is terrified of all her knives now 😂 YouTube has plenty of tutorials although I’d recommend “burrfection” And it’s very therapeutic 😊 I can’t recommend this product enough for your kitchen knives. I’ve also used it to sharpen my EDC spyderco paramilitary its hair shaving sharp now! One thing I will mention, this comes with an angle keeper, your much better off learning to sharpen without it.
