is 40lbs hold weight per shelf or total of all the shelves ? we want to put snowglobes on them.

The shelves are separate so I believe individually they claim to hold that much. They include drywall screws and plastic anchors. So if you make sure to use the anchors you should be fine. I only needed mine for light knick knacks. So I cannot say whether it holds up to the claims, since I didn't use the anchors and test it.

You dictate the height. The shelves are separate. You can arrange then how ever you want

Can you mount this with command strips? Trying to make this renter friendly

Technically you could use command strips but that wouldn't be safe. I doubt the shelf will hold with command strips.
