How long does it keep food hot or cold?

We were disappointed in these. I don’t think it kept food warm more than an hour. I started putting hot water in the container to warm it up before putting hot food into, which helped, but the food was still cold by lunchtime. And the preheating warped the container. I do not recommend this product.

Will this hold a sandwich without having to cut it up?

Yes, if the bread is average sized. If the bread is oversized at all, it will not fit unless you stuff your sandwich in it.
