Weekend use saw
I’m on my third saw, the first had leaking seals and Makita redesigned the saw and discontinued them. While hunting for the bearings I bought another, it also has leaking seals. Both saws had coils that went bad. Makita replaced the first saw and I just started using it, my third, I had thought about selling it.Other than the bearing seals and coil problems the only bars available for it are junk, today the nose on my 6th Woodland Pro bar (bought on Amazon) broke and I bought it in February 2023 and it didn’t get much use as this is my backup saw. I don’t like LP chains either. It’s a consumer grade saw in almost every way except the magnesium.I bought a husqvarna 543xp and like it much better so far. Better bars, rim sprocket, lighter, equal or more power, regular chain. I have a couple minor issues with it; vibrates more and air filter cover vibrates loose.

Quality
Saw is fantastic. Has good power, easy starting and cuts with lots of power for a 42 cc.

Not the same as my older Dolmar
I usually buy Stihl, but have a 61cc Dolmar ( now Makita) that is a good saw. So I decided to buy a small saw for limbing. This was promoted as a professional series saw. It is not. A pro saw has a replaceable chain sprocket, this unit has the cheaper sprocket clutch combo. The bar is skinny and the chain looks cheap with a small kerf. For the money I should have bought a Stihl Saw Boss.

Powerful Light weight saw
This Makita 16 inch saw is Beast. Light weight powerful. Easy to start. Ran this saw all day cutting oak trees. I consider this saw a pro model and recommend it for the above average user. Use of non ethanol 50 to 1 recommended for best performance

nice limbing saw.
i run a larger makita 6421 and a stihl 362. this saw is perfect for limbing. mag crank case for durability. light ,powerful. and after i removed the cat and cleaned up the exhaust port it screams. stock is 3hp. mine must make over 3.5 now. with a full chisel 18in chain. it runs with the larger saws.

Easy start and lots of power for its size
I purchased this from Fastenal and couldn't be happier with it. Mine was made in Germany and it's easy to start, runs like a champ. You can really go through a pile of wood fast. 2 years on and no problems. It was kind of pricey but worth it.
