2230 NVMe Smart Display Enclosure
The media could not be loaded. The DOCKCASE Pocket M.2 NVMe Smart SSD Enclosure packs few useful features, it has an aluminium alloy outer shell and comes with a thermal pad and heatsink for your M.2 SSD. The SSD is secured in place using a cross screw and comes with a tool to open or close the case.A decent USB-C to USB-C, 10Gb/s cable is provided which can also be used via an adapter to USB A ports. I did find that the cable is a little tight but I have tested with another cables and you don't need to use the one it cames with if you already have a 10Gb/s cable. The enclosure has a small 1.7" display that shows the health status, model and size of your 2230 nvme ssd, the current live read/write transfer speeds or the ssd temperature and voltage. The device is also able to display the Total Host Reads / Total Host Writes information taken from the S.M.A.R.T. parameters. The use of a thermal pad is also possible if you want to fit it under the ssd if you chose it.I have tested with an M Key M2/Nvme/PCIe Gen3x2 Liteon 256GB model but you can use also the B&M Key version with a max capacity of 2TB.I achieved average read speeds of 850MB/s and peak read speeds of 920MB/s using the USB-C to USB-C lead, these speeds are within the range that I would expect for a 10Gb/s interface. The write speeds were between similar values both under windows or mac OS.I have experienced instances where the cable orientation can affect the speed but I am pleased to report that this isn’t the case with this product. If you are prepared to invest in a 1TB 2230 nvme ssd and get this enclosure you will be the owner of a tiny and sleek portable device that will have the half of size in terms of portable ssd storage options.

Amazing!
Very good drive. Interface is smart and not just basic, can show you details from drive make and model to read and write. Has options for screensaver, orientation of UI etc.Runs on Android and Windows and can be used as storage SSD or bootable windows. Temps stayed under 50 degrees C and has heatsink and thermal pad inside. Comes with lanyard and braided 60 watt 10gbps cable.Very happy

Speedy little guy in your pocket
I got this little NvMe drive enclosure the other day in a package to evaluate. I bought a very recent pci-e gen 4 SSD to find out how it works for file transfers and as an external OS drive. Honestly, the external enclosure marketplace is pretty crowded and not always the best quality as materials go. Not here. this design is made with care, you can actually feel it when you hold it.... similarly to the feeling you get when handeling Apple products. I made a few pictures and I hope it conveys the quality you get. The internals? That's hard to guess. I measured the performance and it brings the promised 10Gb/s speed. I intentionally picked a much faster drive so I wouldn't hit a speedlimit on the SSD side. This is a Gen 4x4 SSD, however the enclosure caps speed at Gen 3x2, written on the screen (That's a spec I didn't find anywhere before the purchase). The USB 3.1 caps that to around 1000MB/s as one can see on the test resuls. It's plenty enough speed and also the highest possible outside of using Thunderbolt cases. The 2230 form factor is very small, but the included capacitor adds somewhat to the size, so the box is not as small that you are going to lose it. The info screen is nice but i don't really see it as a crutial element of the case... it's more like a conversation piece when your drive works... Sure it's great that you have a health indicator down the road if you use the device a lot and the SSD inside starts to wear down. So, all in all, it's great craftmanship, good materials, excellent customer service with prompt answers if you need it. The assembly is very straightforward and easy, two screws and even the tool is provided. The case gets hot, but that means no heat is trapped inside and that's a good thing. I highly recommend this case and also other cases from this company (I have another one without the screen for larger SSDs). These might be a bit pricier than others, but the case and the cooling is well thought out, thermal pads are provided so all you need to take care of is the drive you want to put in.
