Lego: Tower of Orthanc
This set is great for those who are above the age of 12-14, only because some of the stickers, and parts of the build can be a little frustrating to a younger buyer. Also, for the price point, I don't see very many kids buying this set at 200 dollars. So here are the pros and cons:Pros:-Awesome set, could not say better things about it-Iconic landmark of Middle-Earth-Fun Build-Cool interior set pieces, you can tell they put a lot of time into the details-An Exclusive Robe piece for Saruman, though it also comes with legs-An Ent! You get an actual Ent in this set which is a fun little add-on-Also, you get an Eagle in this set, so that you can recreate Gandalf's rescuing-I could go on and on, but I think you get it, this set is great-Unique build, and some unique pieces to this setCons:-Price point, I would say 150 would be a better price, but this is an iconic set, and they can charge more-The stickers, oh god, even as an adult, I can't stand the stickers, though I suppose it's down to personal preference on this one-Some parts of the build are a bit repetitive, but that is with almost any big build-ALL THE BLACK BRICKS, I realize it's necessary for this set, at the same time, it gets to youSo, that wraps up the pros and cons, to wrap the review up, this set is great, though pricey, it is worth the money. I wouldn't recommend this set to the kids, there are far better sets out there for their age group. This set comes with 4 minifigs, Saruman, Gandalf the Grey, an Orc, and an Uruk-Hai. It comes with an eagle and an Ent. Great build, and well worth it for the adult fans of Lego.

One of my Favorite Lego Sets
My kids all love lego sets. I have not been into it as much as my kids and wife have. When I saw this set I thought that it looked really cool and would be a good set for the kids to have. So rather than get it for them for Christmas or a birthday, I bought it with my own entertainment money and told the kids they could have it but I wanted to put it together. I did this at a time when my son and one of my daughters had wanted to buy smaller sets for themselves with their own money so we made it into a family fun night to put them all together as a family. My oldest daughter helped me to put it together and we did not get it done that first night. I am not sure how many hours it took but it was probably at least 4 hours of good quality family time. This tower is really fantastic. It has multiple levels that can be reached from the back and the ominous look to it from the front is impressive. The Ent that comes with it is several inches tall and was a nice addition just by itself. My kids like this tower also and have not taken any of it apart (which is unusual for them). I like having it set up and towering over all of the other lego sets that they have in the play room. I guess I don't know what else to say. Despite the fact that I am not that into lego sets, I am glad I purchased this one. I almost want to glue it together so that it cannot be taken apart, but then that defeats the purpose of them being lego sets. Anyway it is one of my favorite as I stated in the title. In fact, I would say at this time that it is my favorite, and we have gotten quite a few over the years.

Absolutely the BEST LEGO set I have ever owned!
If you love Lord of the Rings/Hobbit and LEGOs, then this is a must have. I built this with my 5 yr old son and we had such a good time building it. This thing is massively large and there is a lot to build. I wouldn't say it's super challenging, but it does require attention to detail for sure, because there is a LOT of details in this set. I had looked at the box many times looking at all the cool features and still noticed new things when I built it. It's big and heavy, but LEGO sturdy for sure. It was such a blast to build and it now sits next to me in my office at work. If you're even remotely hesitant, get it.

Lego has done it again!!!!! Such a wonderful build!
I'm a huge Lego fan, and I have started collecting the LOTR ones. I waited to get this one because of the hefty price. Knowing it wasn't going to go down anymore I just decided to buy it. It was worth every penny! It was a complicated build, it was fun, and took about 10 hours to complete. This set is a beast. I'm very proud of this one. It stands 28.5 inches tall, so have space for it. I would recommend this for any Lego fan.

LOVE IT!!
All my grandson wanted LAST year for Christmas was the Tower of Orthanc! But Lego didn't make them yet. I tried getting a three-dimensional puzzle of it, but that just wasn't what he wanted. So I got it for him this year, and he built it right away, and it was spectacular! It was, however, missing one little part, which upset him. He has autism, so things like missing parts bother him tremendously. But he was able to continue building it without the part, and he is very happy with it, so I am, also! It is just beautiful, and so tall! Please thank Lego for making it into a Lego set!

Love the set, but Lego definitely had some quality issues with this one
My 5 year old and I love this set. He was really excited to get the Goblin King figure. However, I've found that with a lot of the Hobbit sets that the smaller (and even some larger) reddish brown pieces crack and break apart while assembling the set. I've read online where people have submitted claims to Lego for help with these exact colors and pieces, and Lego has refused to take responsibility. I had to order $50 of extra individual pieces through a third party just to complete this set with my son. As an engineer, it is very obvious to me that there was a quality issue with this color plastic in the timeframe the Hobbit sets were released.

Horrible
I ordered this set for my son for Christmas. When he excitedly opened a bag and started building, the Lego pieces crumbled in his hand. Can’t build it. Waste of money.

This was the BEST LEGO SET EVER
This was the BEST LEGO SET EVER!!! Had so much fun building it. It took me a couple of days working on it while watching TV and running errands. The detail is incredible. Yes, the outside is all black, but the pieces on the inside more than make up for the lack of color. The outside black is very shiny and looks so intense. You will not regret this purchase!!No missing pieces (only extras), directions were very clear.
