The Jane Austen Collection: 155 (Macmillan Collector's Library, 155)

At first I was a bit disappointed to see how small these books were but on reflection they were just perfect and my granddaughter loved them. really good quality.

I collect the MacMillan Collector's Library edition books. They're small hardback books, with dust jackets, gold edging, and ribbon page markers. They're attractive and well made, but some might find the pages a little too thin and print a little small for their liking.

The books are beautiful. Unfortunately my order came with two Northanger Abbey copies andno Sense and Sensibility, but there is no option to return part of an item, or contact to ask about it without returning!

An absolutely beautiful set of books. They are smaller than I expected but this is an added bonus - small enough to take with you anywhere but still comfortable and easy to read. The gold page edges are a really special touch and make these a perfect gift. The illustrations are great; simple and unobtrusive but a lovely addition.

I gasped when I opened the amazon delivery box, this set is just beautiful, I’m excited to have bought these for my bookworm daughter who turns 18 on the 1st January I just know she is going to love the set as much as I do and keep them for her lifetime passing them on to her children of the future. These are quality made books not cheap at all, they feel really special and looks have beautiful styling which does the classic Jane Austen contents justice completely. Five star, very pleased with purchase service and super quick delivery. If you’re looking for a special keepsake gift for a classical literature lover then look no further.

Love this set. Books are just the right size to hold. Beautifully presented in the box and in such a pretty colour. Love the illustrations, bookmark ribbons and gold edged pages. Would make a lovely gift - a special set!

She is a great writer

Recensione in italiano:Ho cercato per giorni un'edizione delle opere di Jane Austen in originale che mi piacesse e che non fosse troppo cara. All'inizio quasi non avevo considerato questa edizione, ma guardando delle recensioni su YouTube me ne sono innamorata!Composizione del cofanetto:Comprende i 6 romanzi, mentre è stato fatto un libro a parte per i racconti (che recupererò presto), sono in versione tascabile, quindi grandi quanto una mano. Le copertine sono tutte bellissime e adatte alla trama del romanzo, non sono immagini casuali, e anche il libro in sé è di uno stupendo colore azzurro, come il segnalibro all'interno. Il taglio è di un bellissimo oro.Ci sono tantissime illustrazioni, e sono elencate all'inizio di ogni libro con la pagina a cui corrispondono, così è facile trovarle. Alla fine del libro c'è anche un piccolo contributo sul romanzo di Henry Hitchings e una brevissima biografia dell'autrice.I caratteri non sono troppo piccoli, direi che sono di una dimensione perfettamente leggibile. Le pagine sono sottili, infatti si intravede l'inchiostro del lato opposto, ma è qualcosa che non mi infastidisce.Passiamo al prezzo: è stato davvero conveniente, li ho pagati circa 53€, ma c'era uno sconto di circa 20€ che però penso si rinnovi spesso.E infine, la spedizione: ho fatto l'ordine un mercoledì e mi è arrivato il lunedì successivo, ma non penso partisse dall'Italia. Era imballato in una pellicola e poi inserito nel cartone di Amazon senza pluriball, ma nonostante questo non si è rovinato, non ho trovato nessun difetto./ English review:I'm just going to write a few words, since there are plenty of other English reviews on Amazon. I find the books absolutely perfect: they are compact; the images on the covers are not random, but chosen accordingly to the plot of the novel; there are many illustrations inside the book, and they are reported at the beginning of each novel, so that it's easier to find the page. The size of the font is adequate, but the pages are very thin (but I don't mind).The collection arrived well packed with film, so I haven't found any imperfection. I am totally satisfied!

Absolutely beautiful set of Austen's works. I wanted a complete collection in hardback that wasn't too large to carry around in my purse; this absolutely fit the bill. The cover and jackets are beautifully designed, the ribbon and gold-rimmed pages are a wonderful touch.Certainly worth buying for anyone interested in reading Austen.

Belle édition, format un peu petit mais très pratique, jolies illustrations à l'intérieur.Un régal à lire.

Jane Austen is my favorite author of all time!I Haven't owned any of her books till now.I normally rent the Audible or get them from the library. I decided to treat myself and order them.But the boxset came in damaged. ☹Disappointed in the handling.
