is the bottel plastic or glass?

Glass with a minor hip-flask like curve and with a plastic cap. The second bottle I bought had a split cap, as if it had been tighten too much. (Luckily I had saved my first bottle because I like the glass).

does this need to be refrigerated?

No, it doesn’t need to be refrigerated, but it’s what you feel comfortable in doing. Some people refrigerate BBQ sauce, but you don’t need to. I only refrigerate when there is no cap and I cannot cover the hot sauce. You should be fine if you put 100% Pain back in the cabinet.
