Worthy replacement for my original bolt.
Not an exact match for the original bolt in my door but close enough in style that I could secure top of door with it. Works well enough, happy me.Unlike flip switch bolts with push rod mechanism behind it, this one has a slider. The travel is limited by tabs on the slider. When the button/stick is pushed in, it pushes the slider tab out of the slot so the slider can move. This answers the question of how the bolt stays in the up position but can mean some wood chisel use to modify the hole in the door to allow it to work.

Bad quality control
These seem to keep falling apart on me.One of the 1st pair fell apart within 1 minute of indtalling in my new expensive door. Returned to Amazon who promptly and efficiently refunded. Ordered another pair as I've already hacekd out the exact shape of this in the door.Ordered a 2nd pair. Without even opening the packet I can see that the push button to slied thie lock up and down is not even attached to the rest of the assembly.I have to return and re-re-order i the hope that I get a good one.PLEASE STOP SHIPPING ME DEFECTIVE ITEMS

Easy to fit and work well
Simple to install and worked exactly as required. Bolt doesn't move/drop when not in use and is easy to engage.
