very good pruners
These are very, very, good pruners, due to the quality of the blades and the ease of use. I now have very arthritic hands, and cannot exert a lot of pressure to cut, nor maintain hard pressure for very long, so the sharpness of the blades is vital. Also, like good steel knives, you can keep that sharpness with good maintenance. The catch is simple too, much easier on arthritic hands than the catch on my Felco pruners. I bought the 101 (for small hands). I suspect I could also manage the 103 range, because the operation of the spring is so easy. I have two measures for you for the 101. The white handle tucks into the palm of the hand, and your fingers curl onto the inward curve of the red handle. Measuring this, from outside to outside the measure is 9 cm (3 1/2 "". When fully opened the widest opening between the red and white handles, (Just where the hinge for the clip is) is 10cm (4"). I must point out that these secateurs do not rely on the pressure of a spring to achieve sharpness, they rely on the intrinsic sharpness of the blades - you do not need much pressure. These are Small secateurs, though, so there is a limit to the thickness of the branch you will be able to cut. I find them equal to anything that my bigger secateurs can do. They are better for me than my hugely expensive previous favourites, Felco. Highly recommended

The Only Brand Of Secateurs I Use
I have had a large pair of these secateurs for about 9+ years, which are still going strong, and I also bought a small pair 4 years ago for my wife. They are unbelievably sharp, cutting cleanly and smoothly through woody stems that I would have had to use loppers on in the past, and will also snip shoots that other secateurs would bend and mangle. Really simple mechanism, none of this ratchet nonsense needed or fiddly clips to close them. I've used most of the well-known secateurs in the past, and these are my favourite by far, and the only pair I've ever had. Having used both the small and large versions of these in the past, I would say the smalls are perfect for daintily sized hands.

Compact and sharp, but lacking a confident grip...
These are very good secateurs, compact and very sharp, the spring works well and I like the closure mechanism. But I am not so impressed with the plastic sheaths on the handles; the material lacks the sort of friction you need for them to competently stay put in your hand. I also have a pair by Felco that have given great service and continue to do so, I prefer their slightly heavier weight and their grip is far superior. I puchased the Okatsune secateurs to see if they could out-shine my Felco's, as they have received great reviews.I find myself staying faithful to the latter, but my partner really likes the former, so we are both happy except he has lost the excuse of not being able to join me in the big garden spring clean for want of a pair.I'd have given the extra star if they didn't slide around in my hand - you can improve this by wearing a glove, but I prefer no glove on my cutting hand.

Extra sharp
These are fantastic secateurs, worth every penny. They will cut even the lightest plants where only sharp scissors would normally cut them cleanly, my other anvil secateurs tend to just bend these lighter jobs. You do have to be careful not to touch the blades though, twice I've touched them lightly and given myself a cut like a paper cut, such sharp blades! They are also very good for smaller hands as they start quite close together. My best garden buy yet :)

The BEST I have used
I read a lot of reviews on multiple sites and the Okatsune Secateurs came out top on virtually all sites. I placed my order and I have to say I fully agree. They are a great product & very well built. They feel very comfortable in your hand and have great locking mechanism which feels very slick. The blade is razor sharp & easily slices through all that I have used them on. I have no doubt with a bit of care & attention they will last me a long time. Throughly recommended & I have ordered the larger 103 model as well.

Cuts like a knife through butter
An amazing pair of secateurs. I bought the model for small hands and they fit my hand perfectly. The catch is very easy to get the hang of and they cut stems and small branches so smoothly. They were a bit expensive but worth every penny as I know theyโll last me for a very long while to come.
