Absolutely love this bookcase
This bookcase was amazingly packaged, only one minor scuff on back edge of particle board. Box is very heavy, would recommend two people to lift. Easy to assemble, took me less than an hour alone. I did find it helpful to predrill holes for back cover. It is fairly sturdy overall. My daughter is using it to display and store her Lego Friends Sets. Doors slide easily and it holds quite a bit. Other reviewers are correct in saying the doors are not flush with walls, but it is hardly noticeable. I would gladly buy another one if it came in black for my boys rooms. This case is very elegant looking and makes me smile every time I see it. Love, love, love it.

Looks nice, but functionally annoying
Overall, this cabinet serves its purpose, though there are some hinderances in using it. Forst though, as others have pointed out, the instructions are somewhat lacking and there's some guesswork. The connections in the pieces are not designed so that you cannot orient the pieces incorrectly. A lot of this type of furniture places the holes or interlocking pieces in such a way that you *can't* put it together wrong. This product is not that way and we ended up with an ugly edge showing on one of the shelves as a result. Also, the back panel is too short, and if you're not careful, you end up with a gap, and at best, you end up with a flimsy attachment - as others have pointed out. Plus, a number of the screws, when used properly, bulge the surface of the bottom shelf up.But more importantly, the doors do not function well. The top of the door barely reaches up into the groove. All our pieces are flush - so there's no way to improve it. The doors sit at a slight angle so that the leading edge frequently gets wedged & stick out of the track. The wheels on the bottom appear to fit over a rail, which could ostensibly solve this issue, but there were no rails in the box, or any part of the instructions which indicate there should have been rails. If you just want something that looks nice, and are mindful of the potential problems when you assemble it, you can probably ignore the annoying door issue and you'll be satisfied. You get what you pay for. It looks nice though and the door issues are admittedly minor, so I give it a 3 out of five.

Love it- except for one thing-
I'm pleased with the quality of this item. It was easy to put together- I'm a small woman and I was able to maneuver the pieces into place by myself and assemble it in about 90 minutes. I've had no problem with a gap occurring between the doors and the sides of the cabinet. I think if one is careful to make sure the top and sides are square with each other this issue can be avoided. It's attractive and just the right size for my little kitchen.BUT...The one thing I dislike about it is it has a rather strong "perfumey" chemical odor to the cabinet itself. Like a floral public bathroom air freshener or old lady perfume over BO. I find it very noticeable and really unpleasant. Ironically, I believe it smells this way on purpose. When I read the product info, I couldn't figure out what they meant by "Board reduces toxins in the air." I'm now afraid some poor soul somewhere actually thinks this chemical noxiousness smells good.I assembled it about 10 days ago and although it has faded somewhat, I still find it unpleasant. If you are sensitive to odors or have allergies, the odor would give me pause about purchasing this item.

Very Satisfied!!
After I had submitted my order for this bookcase, I started reading the reviews. Holy cow, was I terrified! From some of the comments, I started thinking that I had ordered a pile of warped sticks and glue. Let me reassure you, many of the comments on this item are exaggerated and unnecessary. When the box arrived (in a very timely fashion) I was afraid to open it, but I bravely pressed on. I found the packaging to be extremely cushioned and safe. The parts are all carefully sandwiched between pieces of Styrofoam, placed in a cardboard box. The corners are then reinforced and another heavy cardboard box is wrapped around the entire thing! There were no broken parts, no missing parts and the few minor flaws in the paint were barely noticeable and in areas that you would never see once the bookcase was assembled. Speaking of assembly, it took 2 adults 45 minutes to put together. The doors hang straight because we followed the instructions! This bookcase is not perfect, but it is extremely stylish and sophisticated for $139! Look, we all have bad experiences with products and poor customer service, but some of the previous reviews would give you the impression that this product is a nightmare! That is, simply, not true. Purchase this beautiful, economically responsible bookcase with complete confidence!!
